Ethics as WordPress Developer
Working as WordPress Developer, I had chances to learn a lot form fellow peers and clients I have worked with. This had helped me grow as person and of course as web designer and developer. On extra, I have grown up to be better SEO and a passionate photographer too.
I have to be honest with you, I have experienced so many different situations when I provide my estimates or quotes to the clients. I have been told I charge too much for the services and also I had been told I charge way too less for the quality of work I deliver. It comes up to 2 points. Firstly, how much a client values his/her website. Secondly, what sort of developer they are looking for. But every project I have undertaken I have delivered in flying colors and also built really good relationships with clients I worked for.
Let’s come to point. Let’s talk about ethics in development. I must tell there are lot of WordPress developers that are genuine and upfront. Often I hear from enquiries I get is that people aren’t delivered what they had been promised and end up in having a mess of website. This is where finding and working with good ethical WordPress Developers is important. They might be bit expensive but at the end they deliver what they have promised.
When I stared as Freelance WordPress Developer, I had over 3 years of local experience, specially working as Front End Developer. I had precise set of ethics that I wanted to follow strictly.
Being Upfront with Client
I have had always been upfront with clients. Whether it’s regarding cost of project, providing feedback on their existing websites, helping to move to new servers etc, I always provided them an honest feedback.
Collaborating with quality designers and developers
Funny thing here is that not only the developers quoting low, even the ones that does charge you handsomely do outsource their work. Don’t get me wrong, there are lot of outsource developers that delivers good quality work. But problem comes when it is outsourced to wrong ones.
I take pride in working by myself. 90 percent of work I have done is on my own.
I have only collaborated with developers that are within my capabilities and made sure the quality of work is maintained at my standards.
Not compromising on quality
I believe in good quality website. I believe a good website generates revenue and exposure.
WordPress is very versatile and powerful platform. One of the main reason I chose WordPress was it’s SEO-friendliness.
In short if you build a good quality site on WordPress, it’s powerful, fast and very SEO friendly. I have got some amazing results in SEO for clients with just focusing on On Page SEO Optmisation.
